About Me

I was born and raised in the Canary Islands but moved to London to study a degree in Biomedical Sciences. Throughout my life, science has always sparked my curiosity and I really like the fact that science is constantly developing hence I am always learning. In addition, I would like to study medicine once I finish this degree as I want to be able to continuously learn while working with people.
In addition, living on an island has given me the opportunity to perform sports such as sailing every weekend. This hobby, gave me unique opportunities like travelling and being a sailing coach, which I have really enjoyed.
Also, I used to play the cello as music is a very gratifying and relaxing thing for me. It allows me to take my mind off work and relax.

How I Can Help

I would like to help students become confident in the areas they may be struggling with as well as giving them the opportunity to enjoy and become more curious about what they are learning. Previously, when I did my A-levels I helped younger students with science and maths. I provided them a safe environment in which they could ask questions by creating comfortable relationships with them.

Studying a biomedical science degree has also reinforced my understanding in these areas and will help me explain these subjects to students in a simple and engaging way. Moreover, by being part of the peer assisted learning scheme for KCL bioscience students I have enhanced my communation skills which will allow me to deliver content to the best possible standard.

Really Hard Things I enjoy Explaining

Often, students have difficulty understanding the concept of moles in chemistry so they find calculations challenging. Given that I really enjoy maths, I find this part of chemistry very entertaining to explain and would be happy to help students with it.

Also, for biology, genetics can be a complicated area which I would like to teach. DNA and protein structures as well as the processes they are involved in (meiosis, mitosis, transcription and translation) can be hard to learn but I am confident that I will really enjoy explaining them as well as giving students tricks to remember them.
