Hey,

My name is Katerina, and I’m currently studying at Canterbury School of Gran Canaria. Being from Bulgaria and having lived in England and Spain, I have had invaluable first-hand experience with the challenges and adversities of being an international student. Such adversities however, have taught me key skills when it comes to independence, communication and the ability to balance my academic goals with sport and arts outside the classroom.

Throughout my schooling experience I’ve been bombarded with questions about what I wanted to do and be, but I never had an answer and so I kept my options as open as possible. This allowed me to gain a deep understanding of an array of subjects ranging from mathematics and science to literature and art. The beauty of learning, for me, emerges when all these subjects fuse together and are applied to real life situations. In the future, I hope to do exactly that as I continue my studies in a Degree of Aerospace Engineering.

Me llamo Katerina y actualmente estoy estudiando en Canterbury School de Gran Canaria. Soy búlgara y también he vivido en Inglaterra y España, lo cual me ha ayudado a adquirir una experiencia personal, invalorable con los desafíos y adversidades que encontramos como estudiantes internacionales. Sin embargo, adversidades como estas me han enseñado habilidades clave cuando se trata de independencia, comunicación y el mantenimiento de un equilibrio entre mis objetivos académicos, los deportes y las artes fuera del aula.

A través de mi experiencia escolar he sido bombardeada con preguntas sobre lo que quiero hacer y ser, pero nunca tuve una respuesta, así que mantuve mis opciones abiertas. Esto me permitió ganar una comprensión profunda de una variedad de materias – desde las matemáticas y las ciencias hasta la literatura y las artes. La belleza de la educación, para mí, se revela cuando todas estas materias se fusionan y se aplican en la vida real. En el futuro, espero ser capaz de hacer exactamente esto mientras continúo mis estudios en un Grado de Ingeniería Aeronáutica.

Казвам се Катерина и в момента уча в Canterbury School в Гран Канария. Тъй като съм от България и съм живяла в Англия и Испания, имам безценен, личен опит с предизвикателствата и трудностите от това да бъдеш ученик в интернационална среда. Без съмнение обаче, тези предизвикателства са ме научили на ключови умения, свързани с моята самостоятелност, умението да общувам и това да поддържам баланса между академичните ми устреми, спорта и изкусвото извън класната стая.

През целия ми ученически път съм била бомбардирана с въпроси за това какво искам да правя и да бъда, но никога нямах отговор. Ето защо аз запазих колкото се може повече опции отворени за в бъдеще. Това ми позволи да добия задълбочено разбирание на разнообразие от предмети – от математиката и точните науки до литературата и изкуството. Красотата на обучението за мен става ясна, когато всички тези предмети се слеят и приложат в истинския свят. В бъдеще, се надявам, да правя точно това като продължа образованието си във сферата на авиационното инженерство.
